IOP Internship Stipend Award

Provides $2,000 to support summer internships in politics, policy, or a related field

The IOP's Internship Stipend Program offers the opportunity to apply for a $2,000 stipend to support your substantive summer internship in politics, policy, or a related field. The program is open to both University of Chicago undergraduate and graduate students.

Deadline Information

First Round Application Deadline: Wednesday, May 2, 2018

Second Round Application Deadline: Friday, June 1, 2018

Eligibility Requirements

Students who have already secured an internship in politics, policy or a related field can apply to the IOP for funding. We define these fields broadly; some outside opportunities are funded directly. To see a previous list of internships that were supported directly, visit this page.

Students are eligible to apply for the IOP Internship Stipend Program even if they are receiving funding from other grants or sources. However, students who have paid IOP Summer 2016 internships, which come with a $4,000 stipend, are not eligible for this stipend program. It is important to us to share our resources across students in need of support.

Students whose internships are entirely unpaid will receive priority consideration for the IOP Internship Stipend Program.

Application Process

To apply for the IOP Internship Stipend Program, visit the opportunity's website.

The application is due by one of two deadlines. The earlier deadline is May 2, 2018, and the second is June 1, 2018. Applicants will be notified within 10-14 days of a decision on their application. There will be a total of 25-30 $2,000 stipends awarded through this program between the May 2nd and June 1st deadlines.
