The American Chemical Society provides scholarships of up to $3,000 to encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds to study chemistry and related fields.

Eligibility Requirements

High school seniors, first-, second- or third-year college students with a GPA of at least 3.0 and who are members of under represented (African-American, Hispanic, Native American) minority groups are eligible to apply. In addition, applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, or a similar field.

Note: Students planning careers in medicine or pharmacy are not eligible to apply.

Applications for the ACS Scholars Program are accepted from November 1 until March 31 of the following calendar year.

First-year applicants should request a supplemental letter from their College Adviser or other appropriate person who can describe the College's general education requirements.
