Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs
Through its Fellowship Programs, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
Fellowships are rewarded following a national competition adminstered by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine on behalf of the Ford Foundation. Available awards are as follows:
On top of a monetary award, Fellows are eligible to attend the Conference of Ford Fellows, a unique national conference for a select group of high-achieving scholars committed to diversifying the professoriate and using diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
Dissertation and Postdoctoral Deadline: Thursday, December 7, 2017
Predoctoral Fellowship Deadline: Thursday, December 14, 2017
Supplementary Materials Deadline: Tuesday, January 9, 2018
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must plan to pursue, or currently be enrolled in, a Ph.D. or Sc.D. program.
- Must fall into one of the following categories: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. permanent resident (holder of Permanent Resident Card), protected under DACA, political asylee, or refugee (regardless of race, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, or sexual orientation)
- Must be committed a career in teaching and research at the college or university level
